With some sense of "what" the executive branch is from Podcast 15, it is time now to examine in broad terms the powers of the executive branch -- a complicated issue.  Listen to Podcast 16 Executive Branch Powers.  Note how I have categorized the different sorts, and focused particular attention on "delegated power" -- that is, power accorded to the executive by statutes of Parliament.  Read also Forcese, Dodek et al, pp. 297-322. We will be examining examples of executive power in our practices 14 and 15, starting with basic powers and moving up the chain of complexity.
