For about twenty-five years Benjamin Sears assisted my teaching and writing with enthusiasm and intelligence.  He interrupted a contracts class in 1994 to tell me to drive to the hospital immediately because my first born was on the way unexpectedly.  He typed six of my books.  He offered comfort in those difficult years after the death of my wife of blessed memory.   He taught me a lot about American popular music.  He has been a loyal, encouraging, wonderful colleague and friend.

Randall Kennedy is the Michael R. Klein Professor of Law at Harvard Law School. Educated at St. Albans School, Princeton University, Oxford University, and Yale Law School, he is the author of several books including Race, Crime, and the Law and Interracial Intimacies: Sex, Marriage, Identity and Adoption. A member of the bars of the District of Columbia and the Supreme Court of the United States, he is also a member of the American Law Institute, the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, and the American Philosophical Society.
