Lawrence v. Fox
The facts and issue in this case are simple, but not clearly stated in the opinion. They are:
Holly borrows 300 from Lawrence, promising to pay it back the next day.
Holly lent 300 to Fox, who agrees to pay Lawrence the money the next day.
Fox fails to pay Lawrence.
Can Lawrence sue Fox?
If the majority's answer seems obviously right, consider why the dissent's desire to insist on the limit of "privity" might make sense, at least in many situations.
