Intro to US Legal system week 7 (May 9 and 12)

On May 9 we will:1. Continue with contracts 2. Review the more formal, doctrinal discussion of Freedom of Expression.3. Pick up again with Equal Protection, read some additional cases, and explore the more formal, doctrinal aspects of the developing law.Readings:1.  Please be prepared to discuss Williams v. Walker Thomas Furniture Co., as assigned in the previous week.2.  Please have in mind the stories, at least, of the Freedom of Expression cases that we have done.3. United States v. Carolene Products (below). Read with an eye to how the court is addressing the question of judicial review of legislation.4.  Korematsu v. United States (below).  A decision that is now universally rejected with regard to its outcome, but note how it addresses the question of judicial review.4.  Loving v. Virginia (below).
