The Role of the State Attorney General
Iowa AG office can defend Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds in Foxhoven suit, judge says, Des Moines Register, March 18, 2022
The recurring issue of an attorney general's duty to represent both state government and individual state employees was addressed in Iowa in March of 2022 when the judge stated: “The court leaves it to the attorney general’s office to determine how best to develop the chain of command for the supervision of each case.” The ethical dilemma that this situation raises is addressed in the Sections dealing with Ethics and the Duty to Defend.
