People v. Ammons Analysis
People v. Ammons (1980) Case Study
Concise Overview
People v. Ammons addresses critical Fourth Amendment questions regarding warrantless entries under the emergency doctrine. The California Court of Appeal held that a police officer's warrantless entry into a home was justified under the emergency doctrine when the officer had a rational basis for believing that the occupants might be in danger, even though his initial observations around the property constituted a search.
