The Federalist, No. 78 (Alexander Hamilton)
Excerpted
This is an excerpt from the larger The Federalist, No. 78, essay written by Alexander Hamilton. Under the pen name "Publius," Hamilton makes the case for judicial reform and why an independent judicial branch is necessary. I've elided or omitted some sections of this letter to help with clarity. Some of these elided sections discuss larger legal ideas that we won't be able to cover, so focus on the ideas that have been highlighted and how Hamilton discusses them.
Think about the tone Hamilton uses and the arguments he makes. Do you agree with his conclusions?
